Food colourings

Paste colours, dusts, lustre dusts, lustre sprays, liquid colours.

Paste colours can be added to almost any form of icing. Dusts can be added to icing by mixing or kneading it in, or brushed onto flowers/models. Lustre dusts shouldnt be added directly to icing, but rather brushed on. Lustre sprays are less controllable, but can give a whole cake, or sugar items an overall colour and shine. Liquid colours work similarly to the paste colours, but are added by drops.

The paste colours, dusts and lustre dusts can be made into paint by adding a few drops of clear alcohol, such as vodka or gin. Simply put a little of the colour into a paint pallette and add a few drops of the alcohol and mix with a paint brush.
